Celebrating Good Things that Happened in 2015

We have a tradition at Broadview where we get the team together for lunch on New Year's Eve and reminisce about all the good things that happened during the year. This tradition started during the recession of 2008 when times were hard and morale was down, but it remains an important exercise during the good times as well.

A recent article in Psychology Today reinforced this thinking, saying that it's better to write down a list of the year's triumphs than to write resolutions for next year. Resolutions inherently point out flaws. While it's important to have goals, it may be even more important to reflect on your achievements in order to nurture the kind of confidence needed to complete those goals. Here is a list of some of the things we're thankful for this year, in no particular order.

Accomplishments and Good Things to Remember from 2015

  1. Added 7 awesome new people to our team.

  2. Expanded our management team.

  3. Started a new marketing department.

  4. Launched a new brand identity and website.

  5. Had a ribbon cutting ceremony with the West Coast Chamber to celebrate our new office and brand.

  6. Successfully tested out our home made skis and snowboards on the slopes.

  7. Had some highly entertaining contests including a cardboard boat race and a cake decorating contest.

  8. Were blessed with two new babies, with two more on the way!

  9. Had a couple engagements and a couple new houses.

  10. Installed brand new lighting in our shop.

  11. Started working with several new clients.

  12. Got into some new industries: aerospace, material handling, food, pet products, and even lingerie!

  13. Completed two of our biggest prototype orders to date, on time.

  14. Added nylon capabilities to our FDM machine.

  15. Bought a MarkForged 3D composite printer for growing "tools, not toys".

  16. Exhibited our services at two trade shows, AME and AmCon (up from zero in previous years).

  17. Installed a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to better serve our clients.

  18. Exceeded our sales goal to achieve over 10% growth!
